The following is our holiday gift and a new call for a shift in the 5 Ws - How to do real news and current events.
We challenge the common belief that to be effective in activism, we must constantly be weighed down by the world's pains. Instead, we emphasize the importance of channeling our energy into meaningful, tangible actions, without succumbing to pain.
How would you like to have the news without all the noise and clutter? By breaking from the 24/7 cycle of liars whose exaggerations are spreading propaganda: By filtering the constant barrage of fake news, we preserve our mental health and prevent anxiety. We’re choosing to engage in ways that are constructive rather than getting caught in a cycle of stress or negativity.
Purposeful Action: Activism doesn’t have to come from a place of despair. Rather, it’s about taking intentional steps to create change. This could mean volunteering, donating, staying politically engaged, or simply reaching out to others in need.
Self-Care: To be truly effective, you need to maintain your health—physical, mental, and emotional. This balance allows you to contribute more over time.
Replacing the Pain with Action: Pain is the internalized belief that suffering for a cause is necessary to make a difference. Instead, you’re encouraged to focus on practical ways to contribute, while acknowledging that positive emotions, joy, and self-care are just as essential to long-term impact.
Small Acts Matter: Small, thoughtful actions can make a big difference. Whether it's donating goods, spreading kindness, or engaging with your community, every effort counts toward meaningful change.
The key takeaway is that we care deeply about the world, but we don’t have to carry its burden on our shoulders. Instead, we can act with purpose, take care of ourselves, and focus on what truly matters—creating positive change, where and how we can.
