Trump was born in NYC 78 years, 6 months, and 26 days ago and is soon to be the oldest president-elect and felon in our nation’s history.
He was indicted in his home state on charges from a March 2023 indictment in New York. He faced 34 criminal charges of falsifying business records in the first degree related to payments made to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
The trial began on April 15, 2024; Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts on May 30, 2024. Sentencing was scheduled for September 18 but was delayed until this morning.
The indictment charged Trump with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, in violation of New York Penal Law §175.10. Each count is related to a specific business document, each having a date ranging from February 14 through December 5, 2017:
- 11 for invoices from Michael Cohen,
- 9 for general ledger entries for Donald J. Trump,
- 9 for checks from Donald J. Trump,
- 3 for general ledger entries for the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust,
- 2 for checks from the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust.
The allegedly falsified documents are related to Trump's payment to Stormy Daniels as hush money. The business records listed the payments as legal expenses payable to Michael Cohen. In contrast, the indictment alleges that they were meant to reimburse Cohen for the earlier, allegedly illicit payment to Daniels.
A divided SCOTUS rejected President-elect Donald Trump’s bid to block his sentencing for his criminal conviction in the Manhattan hush-money case, snubbing the president-elect by refusing to spare him from an embarrassing distraction just days before he’s scheduled to be inaugurated for his second term.
