HIERARCHY

Submitted by ub on

In the USA there is a separation of church and state, we have three equal branches of government. In the church it’s much different.

The United States Constitution establishes three separate but equal branches of government: legislative, executive, and judicial. Each branch has its own powers and responsibilities, and they work together to make, enforce, and interpret the country's laws. This "checks and balances" system ensures no branch has more power than the others.

The Catholic Church is structured differently. From the pope to parish priests, our infographic breaks down the structure of the hierarchy that guides and serves the faithful around the world. Each plays a unique role in building up the Body of Christ, united in mission, distinct in service.
