Following a 6-3 decision, the US Supreme Court struck down most of Trump’s asinine tariffs. It wasn’t just the liberal justices who pushed back. Chief Justice John Roberts penned the majority opinion, joined by Gorsuch and Barrett, both of whom Trump nominated to the bench.
The Court ruled that Trump exceeded his authority, and that the Constitution gives that power to Congress, not the president.
SCOTUS dismissed many of POTUS tariffs, overturning a key part of his economic approach by ruling that his use of an emergency statute to alter global trade was unlawful.

The decision invalidates what the Trump administration considered the president’s most significant economic and foreign policy move of his second term, a move Trump warned could lead to financial disaster for the United States.
