UN ON G-20 COUNTRIES

Submitted by ub on

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called on leaders of the world’s biggest economies meeting in Cannes to ensure a global recovery that is sustainable, inclusive and creates real change for those hit hardest.

He noted that unemployment is rising almost everywhere, and more and more young people have no jobs and few prospects of finding one. In addition, economic inequalities are widening and poverty is growing.

He stressed that the two-day summit of the G-20 must be about more than “financial fire-fighting.”

Submitted by ub on

President Obama continues to accuse Congress of dropping the ball again and again, by failing to act on job creation, by preventing prescription-drug shortages and the list goes on...etc.

US voters have been forgiving when they go to the polls to cast their ballots for a President, who seeks a second term. Of the last eight elected presidents, all but two, George H. W. Bush and Jimmy Carter — got their four more years.

Marie Tisi, Secretary of this very unique and happy club wants every current, or former phone company employee to know that they are welcome to join them every month. Their group meets on the first Wednesday of the month. The organization began around 25 years ago, back when Ma Bell was still around and making connections.

They used to meet at Castle Harbor in The Bronx, but now get together at various locations throughout the area. Today, these delightful individuals met a JP's Restaurant on City Island.
