UNIVISION SENIOR ANCHORMAN, SENOR PINEDA

For 40 + years, RAFAEL PINEDA has been NYC's most popular evening news anchor. He has and continues to appear on Univision’s TV 41, WXTV, Paterson. Senor Pineda started at Spanish-language broadcaster back in 1968, the same year the station signed on. He is the oldest and longest tenured anchor in New York City history.

R. Pineda says he woke up to the dramatic first reports of the attack on the World Trade Center.

The 911livingmemorial.org was created by Beverly Eckert and Mary Fetchet, who founders of Voices of September 11th. This nonprofit was founded in 2001 by Fetchet, a clinical social worker and educator who lost her 24-year-old son, and Eckert, who lost her husband in the attacks.

Today the living memorial is an ever-growing online collection of more than 60,000 pictures, tributes and personal mementos. The organization has 13,000 members, families and friends of victims living in the United States and abroad.

NYC World Police & Fire Games

They fight crime, battle blazes––and also play a very good game of football, soccer, dodgeball, rugby and even excel at wrist-wrestling.

The 2011 World Police and Fire Games open in New York City this weekend and until–Sept. 5 across the five boroughs.

This is the first time the games will be held on the East Coast––and New York was chosen as the host city out of respect to the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Leonard Gold is a native New Yorker. Gold was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 21, 1919. When Lenny was nine years old he would sometimes sneak into local neighborhood junk yards while they were closed and steal hub caps, then he would re-sell these hub caps back to those junk yards. Eventually Lenny got busted for stealing these hubcaps. His dad called him a gangster and decided to move the entire family to The Bronx, where his dad felt was a good place to raise a gangster. He quickly lost all attraction to crime.
