Therefore, this year 29 states will have a higher minimum wage than the federal minimum wage, which is still $7.25 an hour.
These city and state-led reforms are mounting pressure on Congress to raise the federal minimum wage, but Congress does not always follow the will of the people, so don't hold your breath, because we're not there yet.

82 year old Mario Cuomo, former Governor of New York died at his home in New York City.
Mario Cuomo served for three terms from 1983-1994, and is the father of current New York governor Andrew Cuomo, who was just sworn in for his second term today in NYC.
The elder Cuomo was the son of Italian immigrants who often spoke of his humble beginnings and was a champion for liberal causes and social justice.
