Traveling road warriors

There is an artistic act of neatness in which we pack bags, then there are those cool apps downloaded to speed check-in, and the privileges we take for granted that make long distance travel easy, efficient, smooth, comfortable. Every time we leave home, we continually gain expertise about where to go to find the best foods and the finest places to enjoy, where locals prefer to go. It's all very pleasant but never ever overlook what really matters, sharing time with family is the very best part of traveling.

Tobacco Road, South Florida's oldest bar and my old watering hole as a University of Miami student, where suit-and-tie-businessmen would belly up alongside long-hairs listening to the best live music in Miami is now history after 102 years.

It was a typical thirteenth birthday for Jeffrey Bingham Mead -that is, until Mead’s father walked in to present his son with an Imperial Japanese samurai sword. Little did this young American teen know at the time that it was the beginning of a journey into rediscovering his father’s role as a China Marine after World War II.

Find it at Longitude 83 Degrees 9' 11" W / Latitude 42 Degrees 28' 54" N, but it finds itself in deep doodoo. Detroit city officials are urging a judge to approve their plan to get out of bankruptcy, and solve some really bad crap by wiping out billions in debt and spending $1.7 billion on improved services services for the Motor City.

Judge Steven Rhodes is expected to rule on November 7 whether the largest public bankruptcy in U.S. history is fair and feasible. It's an up-or-down ruling: He can't choose parts he likes and scratch others.

Mega time warp

We've flown 7,364 miles, ytaveling from Shanghai, China to New York City, USA between 6 and 11P on the same day, this is the principal reason why human beings suffer from jet-lag and then sleep deprivation quickly kicks in.

It is called desynchronosis, or flight fatigue, and its a temporary disorder that causes insomnia, and other symptoms as a result of air travel across time zones. It is considered a circadian rhythm sleep disorder, which is a big time disruption of the internal body clock.

It’s borderline frightening to learn how many ghoulishly ghostly Halloween events there are planned this year. You'll be bewitched by the variety of options. Whether you’re brave enough to go on a haunted tour, silly enough to dress in costume, or creatively craft a fancy pumpkin you’ve plucked from one of the assorted patches available.

There are events for children of all ages. Monsters and vampires, RSVP.

Get into the Halloween spirit early by tuning into my baby daughter Sabrina Soto on ABC's "The Great Halloween Fright Fight" It airs tonight, October 28th at 8pm.
