AND THE WINNERS ARE...
Voters in The Garden State have decided to re-elect their heavy weight Republican Governor. Chris Christie cruised to a NJ victory and now appears focused on a 2016 GOP Presidential candidacy.
The NJ Governor's victory underlines his support from Democrats, independents as well as minorities. Similarly, George W. Bush was re-elected as governor in Texas back in 1998. . This month, Christie will assume the chairmanship of the GOP Governors Association, giving him a solid platform for his national campaign.
After 12 years of independent Mike Bloomberg in office, New York City voters have elected Democrat Bill de Blasio. His victory comes as a severe disappointment to Republicans and their light weight candidate Joe Lhota. This election signals a leftward shift for the city after the long and highly paid for Bloomberg re-elections.
This means that Democrats are back in control of the nation’s largest city for the first time in two decades. The 1,200 polling places throughout NYC experienced a lower than usual turnout according to city election officials.
