The Metropolitan Transit Authority(MTA) Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will operate full morning and evening rush hour service beginning Monday, December 10, as a result of Amtrak restoring the signal system capacity in one of its two flood-damaged East River tunnels. Salt is essential to the body. Sodium chloride helps transmit nerve impulses and contract muscle fibers. Working with potassium, it balances fluid levels in in the body. But you only need a tiny amount of salt to do this, less than one-tenth of a teaspoon. The average American gets nearly 20 times that much.
The body can generally rid itself of excess sodium. In some people, though, consuming extra sodium makes the body hold onto water. This increases the amount of fluid flowing through blood vessels, which can increase blood pressure.
Academic administrators need to fine tune goals and values. It's too easy to say: In our institution, every student learns, or we raise our students to their full potential, without explaining what this actually means, how we reach these goals, achieve wisdom, knowledge, satisfaction and retention.
