As Veteran’s Day 2011 approaches, City Island Images invites everyone to join us in paying tribute to those who have answered the call and served our nation honorably.

We are marking the day by publishing the names of every veteran who we can identify, who has served USA with pride and dedication.

We welcome a list with the names of your friends and family members, suggestions, or both.

If you are on City Island, please call or fax X1607, or if you have an e-mail, reach out with your list of names, so we may add these names to our VIP list.

SILENCE IS GOLDEN

The annoying sounds of leaf-blowers on our streets and sidewalks, the thump of loud music coming from our community center, or the out of control screaming heard outside your low life neighbor's home may all be considered a fact of our suburban life to some, but many others have become mad as hell and don't necessarily want to listen to anymore of these and other UN-necessary sounds, which are often heard from dawn to dusk.

BANK TRANSFER DAY

Submitted by ub on

Today was supposed to be the big bank revolt, when millions of dollars were going to be withdrawn from banks across the nation, but these actions failed to materialize locally.

City Island Images checked area financial institutions and we were told that there was no mass movement to close, or transfer accounts, in fact the bankers we spoke with reported the opposite. They spoke about opening new savings and checking accounts.
