Public safety officials are asking nearly two hundred thousands Northern California residents to evacuate out of fear an emergency spillway connected to the Oroville Dam could fail.

The warning, which had been previously ignored has a crumbling California dam which poses an imminent danger of potentially flooding suburbs in the surrounding area.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 12:00 PM on Sunday, 2/12. Freezing rain and an inch of snow are expected with up to a few hundredths of an inch of ice.

New Yorkers are advised to exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking, and allow for additional travel time as roads may be slippery. Residents should also check on their neighbors, friends, and relatives, especially the elderly and those with disabilities, and access and functional needs during periods of extreme cold.
