Longtime City Island resident and a member of the Greatest Generation passed away. Russell F.
Schaller was 93 years young and enjoyed a wonderful sense of humor 1923 - 2016.

Russ was a very talented man and was extremely supportive when I was considering launching CITY IMAGES several years ago. Over time, I had the opportunity of writing several stories about him and his friends and neighbors. http://cimages.me/search/node/russel%20schaller

SLEEPING=HEALTHY SEX

Calorie Restriction improves our ability to sleep, sexual function and mood for healthy and nonobese adults.

Cutting calories is difficult in a world where it’s easy to overconsume calories. And too many people fail to stick to their diets, especially during the holidays. This reporter is guilty as well. While some gain their weight back, others continued to do fairly well well. I've heard of folks getting up in the middles of sleep to eat and that is not a good practice. Cum si cum so?

Monday Mourning?

Are Cubans really mourning the possible end of no breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Under Castro, there also was no human rights nor democracy, the only thing both Castro brothers have done extremely well is holding onto power.

If Cubans who are still stuck on the communist island do not show up to pay homage at Revolution Square for the mass mourning for Fidel Castro, they better watch their backs if they cry out Cuba si, Castro no!

USA RECOUNT

Some are calling a recount vote in Wisconsin, and other key battleground states a distraction, but Trump may have attracted all this drama and it is also proper to point to democratic rights. If the President-elect claims that millions voted illegally why not a ballot recount?

Trump's tactics brought on these recounts with actions and words during a toxic camp pain and most recently, with allegations of illegal votes in the millions without any proof.

Gathering in Brooklyn for an extremely enjoyable global dinner-date included live music, several Asian and American friends, peng you, yu jin, amigos. Representing various professional backgrounds, we all enjoyed an impromptu get together hosted by Sakae Igarashi-san.

She asked guests to share their favorite music. It was all about a delightful dinner party filled with international music.

DEMOCRACY'S FINALE

I was born under the extreme right-wing dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. My family had to leave everything behind when we fled the extreme left-wing dictatorship of Fidel Castro. I can assure you neither method is best for US.

Neither the authoritarian rule of a fascist nor a crushing socialist is the method to make The United States of America greater than it already is.

This may be the best time for a real refresher on ideologies and historical references that crop up while analyzing the present circumstances facing The US.

Mañana in Habana

You may not realize the depth of this announcement, but the death of Fidel Castro is big news for Cubans living all over the world.

When a strongarmed and tight-fisted dictator like Castro dies, the future of the island is definitely uncertain.

Cuba was my birthplace as well as for generations of The Soto family. My home for the first years of my life will literally and figuratively be "Mi Casa es Su Casa" My home is your home for. And all my friends, neighbors, and followers on social media who have been kind and supportive to me, please know that I will never forget.

Cuba's Communist dictator is dead. The revolutionary who rose to power and became a fierce caudillo has died, his brother and current President Raul Castro announced Friday night to state media.

Fidel and his brother Raul managed to turn the pearl of the Antilles into a third world island where no one but themselves could thrive, while million fled and thousands died trying to leave Cuba.
