I'M SORRY...

This is what Rupert Murdoch's said as two of his top media executives resigned. Their boss has apologized to one of his company's phone-hacking victims and "mea culpas" could possibly continue for some time.

Shortly after Rebekah Brooks stepped down, media mogul Murdoch said he was sorry to the family of slain 13-year-old Milly Dowler. Then, Les Hinton, chief executive of News Corp.'s Dow Jones & Co. and another one of News Corp.'s top executives also resigned in the wake of the scandal that has victimized innocent citizens and has rocked the newspaper business.

NYC School Budget Axe Compensations

In addition to its role as the New York City's legislative body, the city council works with the Mayor to develop and approve the city’s annual budget. Unfortunately city schools are contending with a third straight year of budget cuts.

To ensure that the budget that is passed reflects New Yorkers’ needs and priorities, the council members conduct a review of all city agencies, the policies, the programs and the expenses. The Council says it wants to ensure that the process is as transparent and accountable as possible.

RECONNECT WITH FAMILY THIS SUMMER

Submitted by ub on

This is going to be difficult, but these are surefire ways to unplug for the summer.

What do you think is the greatest challenge facing families this summer? Hot weather? Cancelled plans?
No, it is unplugging from our 24/7 schedule. This means no Texting, no iPod, no Computer. For parents, it means cutting the cord that keeps us connected to work, Twitter, Facebook, or Podcasts.

These suggestions are for all in the family, no matter how old you are.

But with planning and a major dose of self-control, you can ditch the gadgets and enjoy some family face time.
