HELLISH COMMUTE

If you are one of the many who happen to go to work in Manhattan on Friday, you may wish to consider staying put and telecommuting, if you are able to do so.

The Pope is in NYC, and everyone is bound to see and feel the impact, even if they try to stay far away from Francis’ big events.

Pope Francis’ visit to The Big Apple, the first since Benedict XVI toured the city for three days in 2008, will have wide ranging implications in major and expected ways -- like traffic -- while making some surprising impacts -- including to mail delivery.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE?

A Jew, a Communist and a practicing Catholic were working a construction site in Argentina. It’s not a joke but a story Pope Francis told to a group of young Cubans urging them to seek friendships across the political divide. “They were all working for the common good,” Francis said. “This is social friendship, to look for the common good.” It is a poignant message in the Cuban nation split between pro and anti-regime sentiments.

JESUITAS

To know Pope Francis is to understand his long identity as a Jesuit. It may be logical to mistake this Pope for a modern day St. Francis of Assisi, given his emphasis on helping society’s outcasts and his focus on the Christian moral duty to protect the disenfranchised and our environment.

AMERICAN POPE

As the first Pontiff from Latin America, he can be referred to as a truly American Pope. So will The Holy Father teach our US politicians a good lesson in humility and how to get along with one another, or is that really asking for too much?

After touring Cuba and lecturing the Castro brothers about the importance of religious freedom and service, The Pontiff is expected to arrive today and meet with President, Vice President and will also address a joint session of Congress.

Apparently.invitations have been extended to transgender activists, along with the first openly gay US Episcopal bishop and including an activist nun.

This White House event has prompted a push-back as Pope Francis prepares for his arrival in the US, and The Holy Sea has taken offense at Obama's decision to invite transgender and gay activists to The Pope's welcome ceremonies.

WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Music blasting and dogs barking at all hours of the morning and night. People fighting in the building and others, who do not even live there with access to keys to our building. Lights burned out for long periods in areas that are usually lighted and other areas where the lights are on during the day. Welcome to NYC. Fences broken, which allow trespassers to enter our property and the association defers to the manager, who are supposed to answer to their demands.
