Real Chief Consoler

2018 is a beautiful year in the neighborhood for fans of Mr. Rogers. Beloved children's show Mister Rogers' Neighborhood celebrates its 50th anniversary on PBS.

Fred McFeely Rogers was a loved American TV personality, a musician, puppeteer, writer, producer, a Presbyterian minister, and a real chief consoler. He gave an expression of care every day to each child.

In fact, when I interviewed him, he took time to record a special message for my children when they were part of his huge TV audience. Natasha and Sabrina were also fortunate enough to visit Sesame Street and meet Big Bird/ Classic Sesame Street - Mr. Rogers Visits https://youtu.be/OqWDjJRhCkc

Public Broadcasting will mark next month with star-studded retrospective Mister Rogers: It's You I Like and will be transmitted on March 6 @ 8P.

It's one of several projects in the pipeline centered on the affable TV host, including documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? and just-announced biopic You Are My Friend, starring Tom Hanks. Fred Rogers died of stomach cancer in 2003 at age 74.

When we need programs like Mr. Rigers now more than ever, Trump is planning to cut funding for PBS.
