Following the Arab Spring of 2011, which brought down Mubarak in Egypt, US seemed to outsource much of our Syria political policy to the ancient capital city of Ankara, Turkey.
But now that all our efforts have proven unable, or incapable of convincing that Syrian dictator to adopt reforms, Americans must insist that our leaders formulate solid plans for that entire region.

Hurricane Irene could turn into a major storm with winds above 110 mph if it reaches the Southeast U.S. coast, the U.S. National Hurricane Center warned Monday as the people of Puerto Rico began cleaning up and those in the Dominican Republic get geared up.
Puerto Ricans woke up this morning to flooded streets following the overnight passage of Hurricane Irene, which was moving just north of the Dominican Republic as a Category 1.

1969: At the age of 27, Moammar Gaddafi leads a bloodless military coup against King Idris and becomes head of the Revolutionary Command Council, the country’s most important role. His proposed merger with Sudan and Egypt fails, along with a series of subsequent Arab alliances he attempts.
1970 - 1971: The new government closes all foreign military bases in the country, expels several thousand Italian residents and closes foreign-operated libraries and cultural centers.
The Department of Health will be conducting aerial larviciding for mosquitoes to help prevent West Nile Virus in marsh and non-residential areas of Bronx zip codes 10464/10475 between 6:00AM and 7:00PM from 8/22 - 8/24.
