HUD AWARDS $15 MILLION FOR LOW-INCOME SENIORS TO STAY PUT.

Grants will fund health and safety repairs in the homes of low-income elderly homeowners

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today awarded almost $15 million to 13 nonprofit organizations, in addition to a state government to assist in undertaking comprehensive programs that make safe and functional home modifications and limited repairs to meet the needs of low-income elderly homeowners that allow them to age in place.

Serving a prison sentence is meant to be corrective. But there are certain standards that all prisons are supposed to adhere to, particularly the physical safety of all incarcerated people. However, there are some prisons that are just downright scary.

Although I did not always agree with his politics and opinions, I never felt the need to silence the Superstar, who brought us joy.

The best-known Jamaican-American musician, actor, and human rights activist Belafonte joined the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s. He reportedly became one of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s closest confidants. Over the years he organized demonstrations, raised money, and contributed his personal funds to keep movement activities going.
