Egg on face often implies that you have made a serious mistake, but more strictly it indicates that something you have done has left you looking embarrassed or foolish:

Summertime is the warmest season of the year. For most, summertime is the slang version of the word summer, and represents the activities and the feel of one’s spectacular life in the summer.

Some say it is summertime in conjunction with a sentence that describes or indicates that someone wants to participate in activities that are usually only done in the few months of the summer.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING

ConEd's union decides to strike during historic heatwave... This timing is worth noting.

Negotiations were underway as New Yorkers weathered a heat wave, stressing out people who worry about power availability, but ConEd says these fears are unfounded.

Negotiations between the Con Ed and Local 1-2 of the Utility Workers of America lasted just over 10 days. The contract expired at midnight Saturday and negotiations broke down just before 2 a.m.

Wait A Dog Gone Second

Tonight expect a lengthier evening, as an extra leap second is going to be added to machines and devices which mark, or tell time. It's called a leap second.

The International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service coordinates these leap seconds, and such coordination typically takes place in either June or December. This weekend's skip: Universal time will be 11:59:59 and then the rarely seen 11:59:60 before the clocks strike midnight. A longer day indeed.
