NY APPROVES MEDICAL MARIJUANA

New York legislators today announced an agreement on a bill that will establish a medical marijuana program for New York State. The legislation includes provisions to ensure medical marijuana is reserved only for patients with serious conditions and is dispensed and administered in a manner that protects public health and safety.

RIP Carmen Maria Warren Robinson

Following a 22 year struggle with cancer and reportedly without complaint, or self pity, Carmen Maria Warren Robinson passed away last week. The 63 year old longtime City Island resident took her walk with the Lord.

Carmen was an accomplished artist in all media. Her pottery displayed her love of nature; and her oils and watercolors, her abstract way of looking at life. She was also an accomplished equestrian.

Three individuals have been executed in the United State of America is the past 24 hours. More today? We've come a long way since the old days, or have we?

There had been no U.S. executions in the seven weeks since an Oklahoma inmate died of a heart attack following a botched lethal injection. That soon changed, with three convicted killers executed in the span of about 24 hours.

NY BATTLES DRUG ABUSE

The New York Legislature has reached an agreement that will be significant in the fight against heroin.

In Albany today, The Governor and legislative leaders announced an agreement on a series of bills to help address the growing heroin and opioid epidemic, as well as prescription drug abuse, in New York State. Included in the legislation:

New programs and insurance reforms to improve treatment options for individuals suffering from heroin and opioid addiction;

The following is a reminder that NYC DOT will activate the newly constructed 16-inch temporary water main on City Island Bridge starting TONIGHT Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 10 PM until tomorrow morning Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 6:00AM.

Activation of the new water line may result in low water pressure to the island during the overnight period.

What does this stand for? New York Medical Marijuana Compassionate Care Act. What doe is all mean?
