CITY ISLAND BRIDGE ISSUES AND ANSWERS

As preparations continue for the replacement of the old City Island Bridge and the construction of a new bridge, City Island Images found several trees have now been cut down along the park after a traffic signal was installed in same area and there are now plans to "temporarily" remove the military memorial island there.

City Island Images went to the American legion to inquire. Fred Ramftl, who works as a bartender there told us that the post commander was not available, but since Ramftl also serves as City Island Civic Association Vice President, he assured us he is well aware of DOT's plans to "temporarily" remove the memorial island located near the top of the bridge, adding that the construction project has stopped.

If this is truly the case, why were the trees cut down? Why has New York City Department of Transportation approved the installation of a traffic light in the area? Why is NYC DOT planning to close the bike and pedestrian path on the south side of the City Island Bridge to move the existing water main on the bridge?

We suggest that anyone who's interested in learning the real truth may write to press local civic leaders. city.island.civic@mac.com

After weeks of listening to the warning, the Russians are coming, it is now time to say the Russians are gone. The G8 has decided that kicking out Russia was the best response, which will now be The G7.

Furthermore, this year's G8 summit won't be held in Sochi, Russia as previously planned. And also it won't include Russia at all. The seven other world leaders in the group of industrialized nations have now agreed to give Russia a kick in the butt, or as they say in Russian, Как о вас поцеловать меня в задницу.

The one we'd like to pay attention to is the latter. Please, take a close look at their national map and then a much closer review of the northeastern coast of US.

When it comes to announcing the creation of a new $100K camera project paid by with public funds on City Island, NY... Grandstanding, or misinformation aren't even close to being acceptable tactics.

It has now been several years since a state politician, civic leaders and the local newsletter announced in bold headline the installation of cameras along City Island.

Where are those promised cameras? City Island Images has learned that there are no cameras, and none are planned in the near future.

Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak appeared at an unscheduled news conference saying there is a major development, possibly confirmation of Flight 370 debris. Mr. Razak has only held one news conference on this matter in two weeks when Malaysia said it believed the plane had been deliberately diverted off course.

Temperatures have been delightful since the first day of Spring, but don't get used to it just yet... Although Spring has arrived and the winter of 2014 is theoretically no longer, unfortunately the Vernal Equinox will be bringing us sleet, with temperatures expected to dip to the low 30s and more snow is being forecast for this week.
