END OF PLUTOCRACY?

When will US see the end of government by the wealthy? Will the controlling class of the rich, which has been gaining power for several years ever change course?

Over time, many political thinkers like Winston Churchill, Alexis de Tocqueville, Juan Donoso Cortés, Noam Chomsky and some others have loudly condemned plutocrats for ignoring their social responsibilities, by using power to serve their own purposes, ignore poverty and nurturing class conflict, corrupting societies with greed.

Some folks say that we're beginning to see a nation of individuals who are taking notice of the kind of divide that we have between those who have and the ones who do not.

Liberals are bemoaning what they are calling “a tale of two Nations as they seek to gather suburban and rural support for an urban agenda after years of frustrated efforts to win a minimum wage tied to inflation, education, crime, immigration and poverty charged topics

It’s time to have a little News Year’s fun. Not with depressing news videos, but with some worthwhile thoughts, expressions and feelings.

This collection of fun, unusual, picturesque and unique videos were produced by my good friend John Hopkins, who is Jack of all trades and a true romantic for everyone who wishes to be inspired. Speaking of romance, here's a photo from Paris, the city of love and lights.

Please get ready to celebrate 2014, if you are not already doing it by now!

GUN SHOTS, EXPLOSIONS... ECT.

There was another loud explosion tonight in Pelham Bay Park. Local resident Nancy Lunnie Jones says she happened to be at the scene by chance picking up her son from a friend's house. She says windows were blown out of houses. The 3 story brick home her son was in shook violently. She goes on to say "We are not strangers to fireworks in these neighborhoods. EVERY person was out in front of their houses. I've never seen that happen."

Just another day near paradise? Over way too many years, bomb blasts and powerful explosions have frightened residents by blowing open locked doors, cracking ceilings and breaking more glass windows than too many people have grown tired of counting.

NYPD blasts, rapid-fire shooting and mushroom clouds have appeared over City Island as millions of bullets are fired and hundreds of thousands of fireworks are disposed of.

For more than 50 years, the city police have been conducting firearms training, detonating bombs and destroying illegal fireworks on Rodman's Neck in Pelham Bay Park, less than a mile from City Island.
