NBC News Overnight was one of the smartest television news programs. Appealing to an eclectic audience of college students, nursing mothers, and late shift workers, the show broke the conventional "lowest common denominator" style of most news programs and injected humor into an otherwise seemingly boring medium, while providing news analysis of a kind usually unseen on other major-network newscasts. TIME named it one of the best programs, calling it "TV's wittiest, toughest, least snazzy news strip"and, one of the best programs of 1980s. The duPont Columbia Awards awards jury cited NBC News Overnight as "possibly the best written and most intelligent news program ever."

Thia is Guantanamo Bay U.S. Naval Base. Will Trump declare the War Powers Act and drop a logistical bomb burdening the DOD? An untested Secretary may forget the focus is national defense priorities.

Imagine an American airport named for one of our great poets like Edgar Allan Poe International, or Walt Whitman, or Emily Dickinson Airport; a pretty strange notion is it not? For the most part, in our country you have to be responsible for American deaths before anyone would think of naming an airport after them; think Ronald Reagan Airport in DC. This Republican fired thousands of experienced air traffic controllers.

Marianne Faithfull was a British singer-songwriter and 1960s pop star who reinvented herself as a new-wave artist.

Her smoky-voiced chanteuse style and, channeling struggles with drug abuse and personal loss into songs of torment, anger, sorrow and resilience. Faithful died Jan. 30 in London. She will never sing agai. Marianne was 78-years-old.
