77 year old Tom Magliozzi died today due to complications from Alzheimer's.

He was a graduate of MIT and a college professor, Magliozzi will forever be remembered for the shade-tree wisdom shared on Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers, on NPR stations from 1977 to 2012, when they retired. Edited reruns are still broadcast on NPR member stations

The co host of Radio's Car Talk changed broadcasting, and delighted listeners over several generations, many who never met Tom, but feel like he’s a close pal.

New York City Marathon course is a 26.2-mile block party through the world’s most diverse city, and it's a model for big-city marathons around the world. We will update information when it becomes available.

Numerous bridge and street closures will be in effect citywide from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, 11/2/14, in support of the 2014 TCS New York City Marathon, including the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Texting while driving is illegal

New York has stricter laws to crack down on texting while driving that goes into effect today.

Under the law, new and young drivers convicted of texting-while-driving will have their license suspended for 120 days on the first offense, and revoked for a year if convicted of a second or subsequent offense within six months of re-issuance of the license.

NYC and Shanghai

NYC, USA and Shanghai, PRC like many major metropolitan areas and world class cities, they have some things in common. Huge populations, massive skyscrapers, affordable public transportation, fantastic food, terrific tourism attractions, etc.

Since I have just returned from yet another trip to Asia please allow me this opportunity to point out some differences and similarities, in order to expose the individuality of each. What no one can deny is the vibrancy and character each one of these massive cities.

Dia de los Muertos, aka Day of the Dead is a two-day festival that takes place every November 1 and 2. Although identified with Mexico, Dia de los Muertos is celebrated throughout Latin America and where there are Latinos.

Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, combines All Saints and All Souls Days with Catholic and Aztec rituals.

The failure of government is not only due to personality clashes, political problems, powerful lobbyists, bipartisan bickering, massive corruption, but it is also due to a deep structural flaw that undermines all administrations and therefore the entire system as we know it.

These weaknesses include unattainable goals, questionable incentives, basic greed, distorted disinformation, systemic irrationality, lack of credibility, mediocre bureaucracies, powerful bureaucrats, political actions committees, global markets, and the interpretation of legislation designed to protect us.
