Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

Maybe not... One mail carrier in New Jersey was trying to stay above water, while the postal truck he was driving got stuck in four feet of ice water in Monmouth Beach yesterday.

Public safety crews we dispatched to rescue the U.S. Postal Service worker and his truck after he got it stuck in ice water during high tide near the Shrewsbury River.

If you think its' cold in the Northeast, think again. The weather warnings are dire: Life threatening wind chills. Historic cold outbreak. Why so cold? They call it The Polar Vortex which is expected to send freezing North Pole air down to the U.S., funneling it as far south as the Gulf Coast.

Prepare to bundle up to wear multiple layers to deal with the cold temperatures, for school snow closings, treacherous commutes punctuated by blizzard conditions, more slippery roads, and last but not least....Fender benders.

SHOVEL YOUR **##** SNOW

We have a revolutionary suggestion, which some may not have thought of and according to our live shot above, others have yet to take care of their civic and legal responsibilities.

If there is any snow on the sidewalk in front of your residence, place of business? Then what are you waiting for....Shovel the darn thing, you lazy ass.

Hardworking doctors, bankers and many other law abiding citizens, as well as countless numbers of public servants may not have been able to get to work on time today because you are cheap, lazy or just don't shive a git.

STRONG WINDS AND VERY COLD WIND CHILLS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON...

Hazardous Travel Conditions are now in effect until this afternoon. Winds of up to 40 mph will keep snow blowing and drifting, but temperatures will br in the teens, and tonight to a bone-chilling single digits in the city and zero in suburbs. Wind chills will make it feel much colder. Our camera lens shows frost.

Everyone should stay off the roads. If absolutely necessary, drive slowly, monitor weather and traffic, use major streets or highways, and keep the name and number of at least one local towing service.

NY Governor Andrew M. Cuomo will activate the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. to monitor a potent winter storm that will impact New York State Thursday and Friday. This storm will likely produce moderate to heavy snowfall across a large portion of the state, and may also result in coastal flooding and beach erosion. This system will also add to the bitter cold already being experienced statewide. There is a windchill watch for the southern and western Adirondacks with values from -30 to -40 degrees on Thursday and Friday.

Bill de Blasio’s Inauguration Speech

And just like before, the world will watch as we succeed. All along the way, we will remember what makes New York, New York.

A city that fights injustice and inequality — not just because it honors our values, but because it strengthens our people. A city of five boroughs — all created equal. Black, white, Latino, Asian, gay, straight, old, young, rich, middle class, and poor. A city that remembers our responsibility to each other — our common cause — is to leave no New Yorker behind.
