The City Island Chamber of Commerce is planning a general luncheon meeting for April 16th from 12pm to 2pm at Artie's Restaurant, 394 City Island Avenue.

The guest speakers will be Mayoral candidate, and former Bronx Borough President, Adolfo Carrion and BOEDC ( Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation) president Marlene Cintrone.

Adolfo will be discussing his candidacy in relationship to business issues and Marlene will discuss grants and low interest loans available to businesses and commercial property owners.

The NYC Department of Sanitation is holding five SAFE Disposal Events this spring. There is one in each borough to provide all NYC residents with a one-stop method to get rid of potentially harmful household products. If you cannot attend any of the events, see harmful household products.

The blue and green recycling bin mascots will make appearances at all the SAFE disposal events. Check out the mobile Recyclable exhibit at the Manhattan SAFE disposal event.

Springtime is the season in which the sap is said to rise, followed by spring fever. Bit it now appears spring fever has more to do with rising levels of serotonin than sap.

On 3/20, the very first day of Spring, which is a harbinger of happiness unequaled by any other date on the calendar. At the vernal equinox @ 4:02 a.m. Wednesday, day and night are equally divided. But each new day, from then until the summer solstice, will bring a few more minutes of sunlight into our lives, and finally put a welcome Spring feeling in every step we take.
