Capital Heights Lyric Opera Company Presents:

THE BARBER OF SEVILLE

Gioachino Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" will be performed in its entirety in two acts. Rossini's Barber has proven to be one of the greatest masterpieces of comedy within music, and has been described as the opera buffa of all "opere buffe". Even after two hundred years, its popularity on the modern opera stage attests to that greatness.
Come join us for an afternoon of live opera here at the City Island Library.

KENTUCKY DERBY - Good, Bad and Ugly

Submitted by ub on

The good news is the record breaking winner of this years Kentucky Derby, I’ll Have Another. The horse was overlooked at 15-1 in the field of 20, then made history by becoming the first horse to win the 138th Run for the Roses by 1½ lengths over Bodemeister from post 19 on a hot, Saturday afternoon before a record crowd of 150,000 + fans.

The bad news is that a body found in the stable area of Churchill Downs the morning after the Kentucky Derby, which officials are investigating as a homicide. Police say the death didn't appear to have associations with Churchill Downs.
