Are some New Yorkers turning into mad dogs? Let's hope not, but according to the latest recorded facts and figures - Almost 100 people were shot in NYC this past week, which is about double the amount of people shot during the same time span last year. This according to NYPD statistics.

As of Sunday, there were 72 incidents in each of the five NYC Boroughs, up from 40 last year.

98 individuals were shot, up from 53 for the same period last year - an increase of about 46%.

OK- It's now time to get back into the swing of things, so let's take a cue from The Beatles.

January of 1969, The Beatles were a mess. The recording of an album tentatively titled ‘Get Back' was meant to be returning ‘back to basics' revisiting to their roots, but problems among The Beatles escalated and culminated in the great George Harrison's walking out on the band.

National anniversaries are very difficult to resist fo media outlets. These stories are evergreen, but in documenting the 10th anniversary of those horrific Sept. 11 attacks, there must be a fine line observed between commemoration and perceived exploitation. Mindful of this possible misinterpretation, City Island Images wishes to focus our special coverage of this anniversary on issues like how much our readers can share, and how such a solemn occasion should be viewed as a specially sensitive opportunity.
