As we approach Labor Day, let us spend time with our families and make time for ourselves. But, Labor Day is really about recognizing working men and women and the contribution they have made to our country. They have been strengthened by unions that have long fought for worker rights. With both unemployment and under-employment too prevalent today, we should use this weekend to focus on how we can create more and better jobs!

Labor Day Weekend Gun Violence

The Bronx has once again fallen victim to a wave of disturbing gun violence. In just the 47th Precinct, our borough saw eight separate shooting incidents, and three small children—a 13 year old girl two boys, ages 11 and 10—are among those affected by these senseless acts, both in the 47th Precinct and elsewhere in our borough.

For 40 + years, RAFAEL PINEDA has been NYC's most popular evening news anchor. He has and continues to appear on Univision’s TV 41, WXTV, Paterson. Senor Pineda started at Spanish-language broadcaster back in 1968, the same year the station signed on. He is the oldest and longest tenured anchor in New York City history.

R. Pineda says he woke up to the dramatic first reports of the attack on the World Trade Center.
