The land of the free and home of the brave ever since 1931, these words have been sung during the national anthem of the United States of America. It means that we claim to be the land of the free because men are free here to do whatever they wish. We are the home of the brave because we feel that Americans are courageous, as shown by the history of our pioneers who settled vast open lands.

On the back on the tomb of the unknown soldier at the National Cemetery, the inscription reads: 'Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God.'

Networking Time

Networking is when you decide to interact with a group of colleagues, peers or professionals to create relationships, contacts, connections, and possible opportunities for your professional career.

A new college graduate who I really and truly admire recently shared thoughts and some apprehension on their future job search.

My advice was to begin networking with a smile by asking individuals to get together for coffee or tea. Keep it short and sweet.

The history of press freedom goes back to the birth of mass media. As soon as the printing press was invented, officials created ways to censor it. In the American colonies, the defense of John Peter Zenger against libel charges in 1735 is often seen as the cornerstone of American press freedom.

The US Justice Department has apparently decided to test a legal case which unfortunately carries with it First Amendment implications, and may affect the future directions of a free press.

"I actually, ardently pray for the president because — sometimes when we're talking to him, he agrees. Then, I said one time, 'Who's in charge here because you agree and then all of a sudden something changes?' What goes on there?" Pelosi said of her Trump intervention comments. Congress is following the Dollars and perhaps Rubles and it may not be long before #WeThePeople know where it’s coming from.

The other day I enjoyed watching Rita Moreno, and Andy Garcia pay tribute to stars for Gloria and Emilio Estefan, who were awarded this year with the Gershwin Prize for Popular Songs of the Library of Congress.

The special featured José Feliciano, Patti LaBelle, Cyndi Lauper, Emily Estefan and the original cast members of "On Your Feet!", and a special performance by Quincy Jones.
