FLOOD FEARS

Widespread rainfall associated with a slow-moving storm system will be prevalent across parts of the Gulf Coast and Deep South and into the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic on Friday. Excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding for some areas. Meanwhile, there is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms, mainly across parts of central and southern Mississippi.

Two officers were shot in front of the Ferguson Police Department early this morning, while protestors gathered outside following the resignation of that police chief in the wake of a Justice Department report alleging bias on the part of its police force and the local courts.

NBD 91 ANNIVERSARY

National Barn Dance was held 91 years ago in March and CITY IMAGES celebrates this anniversary of The National Barn Dance radio show broadcast from the historic WLS studio.

The Story of the National Barn Dance dates back to 1924. The National Barn Dance made its debut over WLS Radio/Chicago. The show was the first to blend folk and country music with rural humor.

Gene Autry, Pat Buttram, George Gobel, Andy Williams and Eddie Peabody were regulars on The National Barn Dance,which rapidly grew in popularity and was the idea behind Nashville's Grand Ole Opry.

A City Island woman, who survived brain surgery has died after the ambulance she was being transported in, crashed into a pole. The ambulance allegedly failed to properly strap her in, according to news reports.

Janet Hickey had survived a 7 hour brain surgery but the ambulance she was riding in crashed, which may have caused her death. The Artie's Steak and Seafood Restaurant assistant manager was being transported from the hospital following her surgery, when the ambulance crashed into a utility pole.

The good news... NYC residents are experiencing the warmest temperatures in over 3 months.

The bad news is that it will not last and mother nature will probably complicate this weekend weather,

New York, New Jersey and Connecticut residents are enjoying in the warmest weather in more than three months, as the thermometer is expected to climb to 60 degrees.

This is a high temperature not seen since Christmas Day. The mercury spike won't last, though, so get out NOW!!!

CITY ISLAND BRIDGE UPDATE

And Now that the family of music icon Marvin Gaye has won a copyright suit regarding the similarity of Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke and T.I.'s "Blurred Lines" and Gaye's "Got to Give It Up," their legal representatives are asking to stop the sales of that song.
