As much as I might love a saccharine, completely idealized and utopic love story from time to time ("You've Got Mail" comes to mind at the moment), when making this list, I wanted to go a little deeper.
Love stories without a melancholic undercurrent or, say, a true sense that collapse is imminent lack any sense of realism. So in that spirit, I give you a few recommendations which you may not have seen yet.

It's Sochi Mess

Sochi Russia is the site of The Winter Olympics, which are scheduled to begin is a few days, but someone should notify the Olympic Organizing Committee the place is a mess.
The Winter Olympics Games' organizers may thin they're ready, but some hotel rooms have no light bulbs, no shower curtains, only cold water only and you cant close the doors to keep away stray dogs.
And did we mention their tap water, which looks more like.... Let's clean it up and call it apple juice, or perhaps beer.

Snowplow drivers are having a go at it just to keep ahead of the sleet and ice which has been falling all night.
There is no one else who actually sees the ice and snow firsthand like those people driving the plows.
These dedicated individuals are racing to keep our roads plowed to stay ahead of the fast-falling sleet and snow.
"What's made it hard this year is that the streets keep freezing after it snows," says Guy, a driver who's been at it for nearly 20 years. "It makes it hard to pick up snow." He continues to say...
100 MILLION AFFECTED NATIONWIDE

While many Americans were digging out of their last snowstorm, a new winter storm with snow and lots of ice has arrived at the doorsteps of people living in two dozen states affecting 100 million people from Maine to Colorado.
Forecasters are expecting six inches of snow on portions of New York, Ohio, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
Another wave of rain has moved in under the snow belt, affecting parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky, West Virginia, and others.

Please join us on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at 6 p.m. at Columbia University in New York as Steve Coll, Dean of the Columbia Journalism School, interviews former Knight-Bagehot Fellow Neil Irwin about his new book, The Alchemists: Three Central Bankers and a World on Fire. The event will also feature the presentation of a $2000 prize to the winner of the 1st annual Women's Economic Round Table essay contest, open to all Knight-Bagehot Fellows (current and former). The winning entry, about the press and public policy, will be published by the American Institute for Economic Research. Prospective applicants for the 2014-2015 Knight-Bagehot Program are encouraged to attend, and will find details about applying for the Fellowship at www.journalism.columbia.edu

NY BEVERAGE LICENSE INCREASE

The number of New York’s farm-based beverage licenses for distilleries, wineries, breweries and cideries has risen a whopping 72% after 2011. Since Governor Andrew Cuomo took office, legislation has been enacted to help these businesses open new markets across the state, and additional agricultural businesses have been created as a result of new licenses signed into law by the Governor. Existing farm-based beverage businesses have also grown exponentially as a result of policies and initiatives put in place by the Administration at the request of industry leaders.

If you were one of the millions who watched last night's Superbowl XLVIII Blowout, you probably think some of those TV commercials were more interesting than the actual game.
Seattle Seahawks took an early lead over the Denver Broncos and held onto it for a final score of 43-8.

TV commercials offered light humor and a wide variety of emotional themes. These were an eclectic mix from Pandora to Cheerios and some of them included celebrities.
HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS

The New York City Office of Emergency Management has issued a Hazardous Travel Advisory for Mon, February 3.
The National Weather Service has expects 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation through Monday evening. Light snow will develop in the morning with the heavy snow.
Snow will begin to taper off by the early evening. Temperatures will be in the 30s. The Department of Sanitation has issued a Snow Alert for Mon, February 3.
The plow tracker will be available at nyc.gov/severeweather in the morning.
