Always Check It Out

False information spreads like wildfire across social networks, particularly during primaries, midterm, and general elections.

I learned a long time ago never to believe everything you're told or read until I become engaged in checking all facts. I reject terms like fake news, witch hunt, the enemy of the people.

Never has it been easier than now to do just that. This is the reason I emphasize to all my students to become involved in an exhaustive fact-checking process. Everyone should be doubling down on facts.

Purging US Voters

By a 5-4 decision, US Supreme Court Justice Alito reverses the 6th circuit and upholds Ohio's purging of infrequent voters. The state of Ohio has purged 2 million voters since 2011, more than any other state. Black voters 2x as likely as whites to be purged in state's largest counties.

This means it is OK to purge voters from the rolls if they skipped voting a couple of times. Apparently, casting your ballot is no longer a right, but a privilege. This is why GOP lawmakers collaborate with POTUS. They know voter suppression helps them to make elections neither free nor fair.

Why does the GOP continually insist on counterproductive practices of deliberately preventing a planned political process? Have Republicans lost their way and are they one step closer to tearing up the USA? Why would they be allowed to succeed?

Republicans have looked the other way on Trump’s scandals and misdeeds, ignoring their majority oversight responsibilities and undermining the entire idea of checks and balances. Our forefathers established our nation under God to embrace a mindset that all men and women are created equal and that no one is above the law.

With his political mandate lasting until 2024 a more pressing deadline lies on the horizon. Putin has until midnight to explain to Britain how a nerve agent developed by the Soviet Union was used to strike down a former Russian double agent who passed secrets to British intelligence.
