MY TOCAYO

70 years ago, my Tocayo's father scored his first hit in Major League Baseball.. On that day in 1955, Roberto Clemente debuted for the Pittsburgh Pirates in right field as a 20-year-old newcomer to the Steel City.
As stated by the sports writers, "No one could see into the future that day, but according to Puerto Rican broadcaster and journalist Luis Mayoral, 'Clemente was our [Puerto Rico’s] Jackie Robinson. He was on a crusade to show the American public what a Hispanic man, a black Hispanic man, was capable of.”
