The opening ceremony inside eerily empty stadium seats. Let the weirdness begin. The first reviews of the fan-less Olympics are in, and after watching The Parade of Nations on television we can say this event may be somewhat underwhelming.

But as they say, the show must go on. This term is used to say that an event must continue even though there are problems, and boy there sure is, the elephant in the stadium... The global pandemic.

Mi Padre was a baseball fanatic. He named two of his sons after baseball greats and knew a lot about America's favorite past-time.

The St Louis Cardinals were one of his favorite steams. The club was started by the American Association in 1882 as the St. Louis Brown Stockings, who got their name from an earlier National League team. They had another name besides The Cardinals, also the St. Louis Perfectos.

Hard to believe there can be such exceptional joy, surprise, discovery, history, and sadness all wrapped up in a night at the ballpark.

JOY: Joining the crowd for the 7thinning stretch rendition of YMCA. A year without team sports and public jubilation made it all the more enjoyable.

SURPRISE: The ballpark in Hartford, Connecticut where the Yard Goats play is an exceptionally nice stadium built for $57 million dollars that opened in 2017.

Back in 2004 The Florida Department of State trademarked Miami as the ‘"Gateway to the Americas." They also trademarked ‘Gateway of the Americas’ with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in order to prevent other cities from using the phrase.

According to published reports, the new slogan is part of the state’s drive to have Miami selected as the location for the permanent headquarters of the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas.
