About half of college students say curtailing the news media’s access to campus events in certain scenarios, such as when protesters want to be left alone 48 percent, when they believe a reporter will be biased 49 percent, and when they want to tell the story themselves on social media 44 percent, according to the findings in a a new Gallup Poll.
The survey says 75 percent of students think colleges should expose students to all types of speech and viewpoints, but a majority of students believe campus climates prevent many from saying what they believe to avoid offending others.
