In the early morning hours on Sunday, August 26, 2012, a shooting at NYC's Pelham Parkway Houses at 815 Pelham Parkway North left one victim, believed to be a tenant, dead, and another wounded. The wounded victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment. Police are still searching for the suspect, and Vacca urges anyone with information to come forward. This attack follows the violent murder in June of 88-year old Evelyn Shapiro, who was found dead in her Pelham Parkway Houses apartment at 2445 Williamsbridge Road.

Skating Center or Community Market? The Money Matters

After the NY City Council rejected a Kingsbridge Armory redevelopment plan because it lacked a "living wage" guarantee for every job, members dropped their demand for such a far-reaching policy. As a result, the mayor's office sought new proposals for the 650,000-square-foot Bronx building. Two came in, and while they couldn't be more different, both are promising. The administration's chosen plan would again be subject to council approval.

The National Hurricane Center expects Isaac to become a Category 1 hurricane over the warm Gulf and possibly slam sometime on Tuesday somewhere along a roughly 300-mile stretch from the bayous southwest of New Orleans to the Florida Panhandle. Believe it or not, this would be on the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which struck catastrophically back in 2005. Most residents agree that this De Ja Vu is way too close for comfort.

Expect the tropical storm ISAAC, which is moving over the Gulf of Mexico to have an impact at the gas pump, natural gas and thereby on US consumers wallets.

Energy companies are always looking for ways to raise prices and increase their profits, so they are now scrambling and evacuating workers from oil and natural gas platforms, cutting oil production in the Gulf of Mexico.

As Isaac tracks west it becomes a bigger threat to the energy industry. The Gulf coast region accounts for more than 20 percent of US oil production and over 40 percent of refining.

REPUBLICAN CONVENTION. Anticlimactic Opening Day Ceremonies.
Mitt Romney's convention inflates with the banging of a gavel in a mostly empty hall, hardly the opening splash intended for the nation. It will temporarily deflate 10 minutes later because of the logistical problems Tropical Storm Isaac developed in the area.

Tropical storm Isaac lashed south Florida with strong winds and heavy rain after battering the Caribbean, and officials said it may strengthen into a full hurricane by midweek as it heads toward New Orleans.

Emergency management officials in Key West ordered visitors and residents to remain indoors as the storm moved through the area saying the only safe place is be is indoors.

On the seventh anniversary of Katrina, New Orleans residents have seen this horror film before and this is certainly not a re-run they wish to experience as all eyes are monitoring this storm.
