UN, ARAB LEAGUE APPOINT NEW SYRIAN DIPLOMAT

Former Palestinian Authority official Nasser Al-Kidwa will follow up his work as Deputy for Kofi Annan, who is leaving his role in peace facilitation for the Syrian crisis at the end of this month, by serving as Deputy to the new Joint Special Representative of the United Nations and the League of Arab States, a UN spokesman said today.

Mr. Al-Kidwa will begin working with new Joint Representative Lakhdar Brahimi when he takes up his position following the expiration of Mr. Annan’s mandate on 31 August 2012.

Electric Vehicle Usage Promoted

NYC Council Members James Vacca and Mark Weprin are introducing a package of bills designed to spur electric vehicle use in New York City. As a zero emissions method of transportation, electric vehicles have potential to dramatically improve air quality across the five boroughs. Though demand for the vehicles has not been as high as anticipated, Vacca and Weprin aim to ease certain regulations to make it easier to own an electric vehicle.

Outlaws of the Land and Sea - Pigeons and Seagulls

A news report today reveals that a seagull hit a power line this morning, causing an outage on San Francisco's Treasure Island that lasted for about 45 minutes.

As their population continues to increase as these birds learn to seek out sources of organic waste which becomes available in small but widely disseminated quantities in malls, shopping centers, recreational parks, etc. or concentrated in massive quantities at solid waste collection points, fish and other food processing plants, etc.
