Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Speaker Quinn and Members of the City Council Announce Agreement for an On-Time, Balanced Budget. Bloomberg, Quinn and members of the City Council have finally announced an agreement for an on-time, balanced budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 that includes no tax increases and preserves essential services.

The budget remains balanced through the use of prudently saved prior-year resources, billions in agency savings actions and increased revenues from strong growth in the tech, film and television, tourism and higher education sectors.

While many applaud The US Supreme Court’s action to prevent Arizona from unconstitutionally criminalizing being undocumented, seeking or engaging in work, or being deport-able, there is cause to be concerned that the state's “show-me-your-papers” policy was not yet determined to be unconstitutional because it is unclear how it will be implemented.

Raging inferno and wild flames surround Colorado's popular tourist destinations. Blaze destroys about two dozen homes in the Rocky Mountain National Park region and pushes tourists out of Pikes Peak.

MOTHER NATURE LASHES OUT. Debby Floods Florida With Heavy Rains.
The tropical storm travels to the Sunshine State bringing bands of drenching rain while its center remains still around the Gulf of Mexico. This could mean that the most pressing threat from the storm is extreme flooding, not the winds.

TROPICAL STORM DEBBY

Debby which is the very first storm of the 2012 season to enter the Gulf of Mexico, was most recently centered approximately 115 miles south-southwest of Apalachicola, Florida and was expected to remain nearly stationary, according to forecasters at the National Hurricane Center tonight. At least one person is feared dead tonight as a result.
