NYC Parks Officials' Questionable Activities

Two NYC Parks Department supervisors have been suspended following allegations of sexual harassment of female subordinates.

Parks Commissioner Veronica White told a City Council hearing the two accused supervisors would be suspended without pay.

Following several attempts for an official comment, NYC Parks issued the following statement to City Island Images.

David Petraeus has taken a new job with investment giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. to rebuild his reputation following an extramarital affair that brought about his resignation as CIA directorl.

The 60 year old retired US official will serve as chairman of KKR Global Institute. He was CIA director from September 2011 until last November. Before that, Petraeus served more than 37 years in the U.S. Army, where he rose to the rank of four-star general.

Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum

This summer, from June 1st through June 16th, the Sing for Hope Pianos return to our city streets. In one of New York City’s most vibrant public art installations, 88 artist-designed pianos (one for each key on a piano) are placed in parks and public spaces throughout the five boroughs for anyone and everyone to enjoy. Pelham Bay Park is fortunate to host two pianos – one in the formal gardens at Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum and one in front of the Main Pavilion of Orchard Beach.

NYC Transportation Chair James Vacca will convene a public hearing on Introduction 1042.

Originally introduced by Council Member David Greenfield, it would require municipal meters to be deactivated when parking rules are not in effect or when receipt paper is not available.

The committee will hear testimony from the DOT-Department of Transportation on the feasibility of making the citywide on-street parking system fairer.

So far, we've had one of the most pleasant Springs I can remember. There have been many crisp, sunny days and very beautiful weekends. We will likely finish May period with near normal temperatures, and as it turns out normal weather can be very nice. To those individuals who detest the quick jump from winter to summer, congratulations because you have finally been rewarded by mother nature this year.
