Broken and needs US to fix it

Submitted by Admin on

US Congress, used to be the place where statesmen and political theorists would roam the halls and work together. Leaders like James Madison, the fourth President of the United States of America, or John Adams the second President of the United States, who served earlier as the first vice president of the United States, or GOP Superstar Abraham Lincoln, the 16th US President who served until his assassination, and so many other real leaders who served US well. These politicians not only persevered, but also developed a stronger and much prouder nation.

After watching the last two congressional sessions, it leaves me thinking that the system has broken down and it desperately needs fixing. These women and men who were elected to serve US are fighting like they're in the worst divorce anyone has ever seen. The political pettiness and small-minded meanness in national discourse is disheartening at best and works against our national interests at worst.

Congress is charged with drafting, debating and sending bills to the president to be signed into law. But how do USA's 100 senators and 435 representatives from 50 states manage their legislative business? They have not been doing a good job.

An effective method to measure their effectiveness is to ask whether US lawmakers deliberate on the most important issues of the day and make a decision to move on to the next pressing issue. By this standard alone, Congress has grown dysfunctional.

Please, reach out to your representative and tell them what you expect of them, or else you will see to it that they are replaced. These new breed of leaders need marriage counselors, or strict chaperones. What say you?

Hasta La Vista, Habana

After more than 50 years of cold war the US and Cuba are warming up and agreed to have relations.... The diplomatic kind.

US is going to lift restrictions on banking and travel. Those restrictions date all the way back to when Fidel Castro took power in Cuba during the Cold War. Obama used executive authority to dial back restrictions, but it’s still up to Congress to give the OK to lift the whole embargo.

The governments of US and Cuba are paving the way for a massive overhaul in their political policies.

For more than five decades, US has kept an economic embargo on Cuba, but all of this is now changing under the Obama administration. Today President Obama begins a broad range of diplomatic and regulatory measures that are considered the most sweeping change in U.S. policy toward Cuba since the 1961 embargo was imposed.

How to sleep much better

Submitted by ub on

Chronic pain and insomnia are an unhealthy combination. According to the National Sleep Foundation, chronic pain disturbs the slumber of one in five Americans at least a few nights a week. Whether it’s from a bad back, arthritis, or headaches, chronic pain puts you in double jeopardy: the pain robs you of restful sleep and makes you more fatigued, and thus more sensitive to pain.

POLITICAL INACTION COMMITTEE

Submitted by ub on

Why do most politicians wind up following these steps towards Political Inaction Committees?

They get elected to gain power and influence, then fall in lust with fame and fortune.

They beat their chests, or slap their own backs to celebrate attainment of power.

They are urged to consider using their power to enact positive change.

They worry that this change might make them look bad politically.

They then decide to play it safe and change nothing.

They get re-elected to keep power they wont use.
