DIVISIVE US

Submitted by ub on

Deconstructing the politics of divisiveness finds a democratic form of government tearing itself apart and it appears to be getting worse with time.

Instead of laying out their individual platforms, politicians continue attacking each other, their parties and the media. Divisive is the new form of inclusion when it comes to camp pain, or poly ticks.

MEDICARE AND MEDICAID

Submitted by Admin on

This is the 50th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid. For 50 years, Medicare and Medicaid have provided more than just a safety net – they have provided a lifeline to millions of Americans. These programs serve those who are most in need, and they have made a tremendous difference in the lives of so many, but also a difference in how we think about our social responsibility in this country.

US Congressman Joe Crowley says “We have moved so far from the days when seniors were going without health care because they couldn’t afford insurance, and from the days when working families worried about how to get health care for their children. Now we must keep that going for the next generation.

With Medicare and Medicaid, the US government made a promise to take care of those who need health care the most – a promise we continued with the Affordable Care Act, but that work is far from done.

CITY IMAGES salutes all who will fight to ensure that the next 50 years are marked by the same kind of progress and commitment to strengthening health care in this country as the past 50 years. Stand up to those who would do away with the guarantee of Medicare, ot would undermine Medicaid, and shred our nation’s social safety net into threads.

According to a report released today, choice and competition increased in the 2015 Marketplace and consumers benefitted as new issuers entered and price competition intensified. In 2015, 86 percent of Marketplace-eligible consumers could choose from at least three issuers, up from 70 percent in 2014.

Stepping Stones Management Commentary

These letters often stray from the rule to avoid politics and religion but they rarely venture into the

latter realm. However, one of the major stories of the just concluded second quarter was the papal

encyclical admonishing humanity for turning the earth, God’s creation, into “an immense pile of

filth.” In Laudato Si’ – Our Care For Our Common Home, Pope Francis is asking us to see our

world more like his namesake St. Francis of Assisi who viewed all of the earth’s plants, animals

ESCAPING ISIS

The battle against ISIS has been waged largely by men. But it is women and children who have borne some of the more horrific violence, with thousands forced into slavery, where they have been subjected to rape and other forms of torture.

Sexual violence has a long history in war, but ISIS has built it into their bureaucracy, with dedicated slave markets and price lists based on the victims’ ages, according to Zainab Hawa Bangura, the United Nations’ special representative on sexual violence in conflict.

Lately, we've seen first hand how immigration is and will continue to be a hot button issue.

Countries don't usually lose their richest citizens to USA. Most aren't elite when they arrive in this great nation. In my family's case, we lost everything in CUBA; That’s why arrived here legally to re-build and start a new life.

If you're taking steps to ensure that you stay in good health and are able to enjoy your later years. then good for you. Eating, exercising, regular checkups from a doctor are all necessary. But it also makes sense to have some contingency plans for the bumps along the road which most certainly will come along.

Adapt your home. Your stairs, bath, and kitchen can present hazards for some people. Even if you don't need to make changes now, do an annual safety review so you can make necessary updates if those needs arise.

GLOBAL UNION

Back in the 1800s, the concept of a world without boundaries was about globalization and interests of countries.

The idea was that by removing boundaries, there would be an upward swing in pride as international citizens. However, a maximum supremacy is attained without borders, but its a long road to travel for this objective.
