SWIM OIL SINK

Submitted by ub on

If you decide to swim in oil, you will undoubtedly sink in oil. That is what has happened to Venezuela's economy.

Oil made Venezuela very rich, but now it’s forcing Venezuelans to become very poor. Supermarket shelves are empty; hospitals have no medicine; gangs are fighting in the streets over supplies. It's chaos and people are suffering.

Some warn that Venezuela, Argentina, and Brazil's political money strength has been using Central Banks. Big money wants to control South America, and they are not going to let that happen.

Rebellious Democrats are holding an extraordinary around-the-clock protest on the House floor in their failed attempt to demand votes on gun-control bills, shouting down Speaker Paul Ryan when he attempted to restore order. This one is must CSPAN TV

US House of Representatives Democrats took a hike down the information super highway yesterday morning and turned to internet technologies like Facebook's live-streamed video to get their message out after the in-chamber cameras were systematically shut off.

CON GRACE?

Submitted by ub on

There is no grace going on there on Capitol Hill, and too much of a con job. Some ask where is it? Show me. Well, if progress is moving forward, and regress is moving backwards, what is Congress, a national con job?

The GOP lead congress has done very little over the past years. Call your representative and condemn them for their continual refusal to perform their jobs. Demand that constant bickering and personal attacks must stop.

The Right to Remain Silent

This was never meant for members of Congress, who are no longer doing their jobs. More about that later.

It is designed to offer equal justice under the law. As US celebrates the 50th anniversary on June 13, it’s easy to forget the origin and purpose.

Miranda was the culmination of 30 years of Supreme Court cases that were designed to protect criminal suspects from abuse in police interrogations. The earliest of these decisions prohibited violence and torture.

PRIVACY vs SECURITY

Submitted by ub on

Encryption might enable absolute privacy but national security must be allowed to prevail. The problem lies in our government's definition of national security. However, access to private information is essential to keeping citizens safe.

In fact, there are cases where the authorities should be able to access encrypted data, like the California case which developed between Apple and the FBI over the San Bernardino shooting suspect's smartphone messages.

REPUBLICANT?

Submitted by ub on

Does the GOP leadership wish the Republican party could topple The Donald and find a real presidential candidate and a sane nominee at the national convention next month? Some say no way, while others worry in dismay.

However, nothing will change unless the next election brings sweeping changes to Congress, where Democrats are in the majority.

US NATIONAL DEBT

Submitted by ub on

United States' national debt is the amount owed by the federal government of the United States. The measure of the public debt is the value of the outstanding federal securities at a point of time that have been issued by the Treasury and other federal government agencies.

Neither one of the politicians who have announced their candidacy for the nation's top position has been willing to say how they will solve the national debt.

According to Congressional Budget Office projections, a $534 billion deficit for 2016 is $100 billion more than in 2015.
