RAIL SERVICE UPDATES

Submitted by Admin on

The Metropolitan Transit Authority(MTA) Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will operate full morning and evening rush hour service beginning Monday, December 10, as a result of Amtrak restoring the signal system capacity in one of its two flood-damaged East River tunnels. This will mark the first full service rush hour for the LIRR since Hurricane Sandy hit six weeks ago. The LIRR's off-peak service continues to operate on a regular schedule throughout the LIRR system.

LESS SALT INTAKE

Salt is essential to the body. Sodium chloride helps transmit nerve impulses and contract muscle fibers. Working with potassium, it balances fluid levels in in the body. But you only need a tiny amount of salt to do this, less than one-tenth of a teaspoon. The average American gets nearly 20 times that much.

The body can generally rid itself of excess sodium. In some people, though, consuming extra sodium makes the body hold onto water. This increases the amount of fluid flowing through blood vessels, which can increase blood pressure.

"Time Out", a groundbreaking recording by this amazing composer was almost scrapped by Columbia records executives because at first they claimed that people can't dance to these rhythms, recalled the late and great jazz legend, who died yesterday.
