GIRL POWER

Young girls must continue to have stronger feelings of self-worth and to believe more and more that they are valuable, full-rounded people who can resist the relentless cultural messaging about how just being pretty and a good mother is the only thing a woman is good for...

BLESSING OF THE FLEET

Submitted by ub on

“Most gracious Lord, who numbered among your apostles the fishermen Peter, Andrew, James and John, we pray you to consecrate this boat to righteous work in your name. Guide the captain at her helm. So prosper her voyages that an honest living may be made. Watch over her passengers and crew and bring them to a safe return. And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be upon this vessel and all who come aboard, this day and forever. Amen”

We last reported that J-LO was photographed partying there and now City Island Images learns of the Kardashian invasion of Don Coqui.

Who will we see there next... CASTRO? We asked owner Jimmy Rodriguez if that was a possibility, but he didn't think so.

You may recall that Fidel Castro paid a visit to Jimmy's Cafe before the place went away. Jimmy's Bronx Cafe drew everyone from Yankee stars to Fidel Castro finally closed its doors for good on New Year's Eve after a decade of wild and crazy partying into the night.

US GOVERNMENT INACTION

Submitted by ub on

US lawmakers have done a whole lot of talking and finger-pointing, but not much legislating. What's up with that?

For example, it's been 365 days since the Senate passed bipartisan legislation to fix US broken immigration system, for Hispanics United in America and well as others. However, all we hear are lame excuses from our US House of Representatives.

Meanwhile many families are suffering. The American people want what the economy needs, basic human decency requires.

What else are the representatives waiting for? No more excuses. It's time to vote.

On Tuesday at 4P, Team USA targets Belgium at the World Cup Games.

By now, you may have noticed that anyone can win. This particular match will come down to which side can do a better job.

Meanwhile, USA must plan for life without their starting striker. This will keep Clint Dempsey out of position all alone up front, where he will be forced to more or less wait for opportunities to come to him rather than drop back and get them himself.

USA reached the knockout stage of consecutive World Cups for the first time, just not the way we wanted it.

Germany beat the US 1-0, following a drenched and soggy match, but USA held onto second place because Portugal defeated Ghana 2-1 in another game played simultaneously.

Many are running out of good excuses for missing work to watch the U.S. The World Cup.
