January 15 marks a tragic anniversary 195 years ago when the executors of Thomas Jefferson sold 130 enslaved people from Monticello.

Thomas Jefferson was an American statesman, diplomat, lawyer, architect, philosopher, and Founding Father who served as the third president of the United States from 1801 to 1809. monticello.org

This deadly blaze in The Bronx was the second such tragedy at low-income housing in the USA this month. The first was in Philadelphia, PA.

The empathy many political refugees from Cuba, Vietnam, and other Americans feel toward Afghan refugees evokes them to action.

The political refugees cry for freedom acknowledging that t is a jungle out there. As a child of parents who left everything behind for freedom, liberty, and to participate in the American democratic process, I feel for any and all fellow refugees who find themselves in a similar predicament. The images online are alarming, but we can't verify all of them.

According to new data, the Asian American population was among the nonwhite populations that grew over the last decade.
