This year would have been the 50th anniversary of SOUL TRAIN a music program that lasted for 35 seasons on American television.

Soul Train was an American music-dance television program that aired in syndication from October 2, 1971, to March 27, 2006.

A show that was billed as the hippest trip in America and primarily featured performances by Rhythm & Blues, Soul, dance/pop, and hip hop artists, although funk, jazz, disco, and gospel artists were also appealing and appeared.

RIP Stephen Sondheim

Stephen Joshua Sondheim has died at age of 91. He was the prolific lyricist behind smash hits that include "Sweeney Todd" and "West Side Story".

Sondheim was born in NYC and died in Connecticut. He was regarded as one of the foremost artists of the 20th Century and wrote the lyrics for West Side Story, also composed Into the Woods among many others.

This songwriter reshaped the American musical theater in the 20th century with his intelligent, intricately rhymed lyrics, along with his use of evocative melodies and a willingness to tackle unusual subjects.
