Today is the 40th anniversary of the fall of Saigon - a signature event in the history of the United States and one of those events seared into our country's collective memory.
The Governor and the legislative leaders are in the midst of ongoing budget discussions which have intensified as we have gotten closer to the budget deadline.
The following paragraphs were written by the City Island Civic Association about two separate construction projects. One for 43 units and the other for 45 units. Please take your time and read each one of them carefully and then decide whether, or not these were treated equally and the same?
MTA has routinely slashed service on dozens of bus routes to close a budget gap over the years, but some routes are being resurrected today.

Tutor Perini, the building construction company that has been awarded the City Island Bridge project, today announced that its Civil Group has executed a contract with Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group for construction of a platform structure at Hudson Yards in midtown Manhattan. This portion of the Hudson Yards Development project is valued at approximately $510 million.
The platform, which will be constructed of structural steel frame and feature a reinforced concrete deck, will bridge the active Long Island Rail Road eastern rail yard located south of West 33rd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, and will serve as the foundation for future buildings at Hudson Yards. Construction of the platform will be closely coordinated with the Company’s work already underway on the Amtrak concrete tunnel box (Gateway right-of-way preservation) project at the same site.
Pre-construction activities related to the platform began in mid-2013. Construction related to the platform has already begun and is expected to be completed in 2016. The contract value will be included as part of the Company’s reported fourth-quarter backlog.

11:59 p.m TONIGHT, THE President will be required to initiate the budget process known as sequestration. As Obama is forced by law to trigger $85 billion in automatic budget cuts, now a bipartisan delegation marches to The White House on this first day of March to negotiate. But all are expected to restate long-held positions, making this of a photo op. In fact, now that sequestration has arrived, the budget gridlock gripping Washington may be about to get worse.
The American dream is a commonly shared belief by the people of our nation, considered today as the most powerful in the world. We want to establish our family name, make them proud, and ultimately live the best life during our time on this beautiful planet. Because of this, we are never satisfied, believing tomorrow will always be better than today and spend accordingly. This is why there are many who default on credit cards; try to find the next “get rich quick scheme”, and why we elect politicians who can do the most for us regardless of the long term effect of our nation.
