The increasing violation of our rights and the rights of children; unjust and criminally deadly attacks on the free press, attacks on our US neighbors and longtime international allies should make us want to be registered to vote, even if it's via absentee ballots.

All Americans should be mourning all the injustices and they must all be confronted now before the midterm elections. All bipartisan reforms could be adopted before its too late.

Veteran US Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his resignation and the battle line are not being drawn.

He was appointed by Ronald Reagan and considered to be somewhat of a conservative, but Kennedy was better known for his generation-defining liberal opinions.

Kennedy has also been called the man in the middle and appropriately finds himself the middle of a chaotic fight between Republicans and Democrats, which will not be settled any time soon.

I live in The Bronx, which has a majority Latino population. As World Cup fever increases, I hear many radios and TV sets carrying the games in Spanish. These sounds remind me of the days I served as executive producer with Univision Television Network.

Occasionally, the Democrats need new blue blood and this one can be classified as the future is female as an old establishment male crashed after losing touch with his New York constituents during double-digit terms in The US House of Representatives.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez worked as a bartender, and around a year later, she defeated the likely next Speaker of the House. This intelligent, street-smart and attractive victorious candidate is Socialist Latina Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old New Yorker, who could become the youngest woman ever elected to Congress.

Always Check It Out

False information spreads like wildfire across social networks, particularly during primaries, midterm, and general elections.

I learned a long time ago never to believe everything you're told or read until I become engaged in checking all facts. I reject terms like fake news, witch hunt, the enemy of the people.

Never has it been easier than now to do just that. This is the reason I emphasize to all my students to become involved in an exhaustive fact-checking process. Everyone should be doubling down on facts.
