New York City Council Transportation Chair James Vacca says that MTA will face a number of challenges in the years ahead, from preserving service for straphangers to completing many of the mega-projects across the city, all under the threat of further budget cuts. Jimmy points out that this is one of the most difficult jobs in the country, but addas that Joe Lhota’s successes as a Deputy Mayor for Operations and City Budget Director mean that he has the expertise and leadership needed to weather the storm ahead.

It's now been 2 months since Tripoli fell to the Libyan fighters. They have been battling for full control of Libya since then and it appears that today may be their glory day.

The New Libyan government is celebrating after beating the last remaining forces loyal to Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi from his coastal stronghold in the city of of Surt.

The head of the Libyan military council claims that Qaddafi was killed as fighters battling his fallen regime has finally taken control of his hometown after a prolonged struggle.

SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS TO INCREASE

US Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx) applauds announcement by the Social Security Administration that Social Security beneficiaries will see their first Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase in two years to help meet the growing costs for consumers. Starting in January 2012, Social Security beneficiaries will receive a 3.6 percent increase in benefits.
